The Powering the Blue Economy initiative is designed to accelerate the transition from fossil-fuel-based marine operations to clean, electric, and sustainable water mobility across India and emerging coastal regions. Led by Oceanvolt Dynamics, the project aims to build a comprehensive marine electrification ecosystem that integrates advanced propulsion technologies, charging infrastructure, service networks, financing access, and community adoption.
India’s vast coastline, inland waterways, fisheries sector, and backwater tourism economy present a transformative opportunity to deploy zero emission marine mobility at scale. By replacing diesel engines with efficient electric propulsion systems, the project will significantly reduce fuel costs, lower emissions, improve safety, and create quieter, cleaner waterways delivering both environmental and socio-economic impact.
